EUGENE, Ore. -- Fans all over Eugene are celebrating after the Oregon men's basketball team won the Pac-12 championship Saturday.
The Ducks ended the tournament with a 68-48 win over the Washington Huskies, finishing with an 8-win streak.
The season started slow with quite a few injuries, but the Ducks quickly turned that around and continued on to have a winning season.
Longtime fans said when they saw the energy switch, everything changed for the team.
"Really recently they came together and they look like a team now," fan Michael Carney said. "And I think that's the biggest difference. I think they're going to do well."
And while winning is a great feeling, fans said the overall energy that comes with being a Duck is what makes Eugene so special.
Other fans said it's personal. Dominic Giocomarra said wins like this unite the community.
"This is my town. These are my people. It's really bringing the community together -- keeping these victories up. We're going to go far," Giocomarra said.
The Ducks will go on to face Wisconsin first in the NCAA championship tournament.
