SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A motorcyclist is in the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries after being hit by a FedEx truck on Thursday, police said.
Officers responded to the Glenwood area just after 1 p.m. and found that the motorcyclist -- Roy Ackerson, 49, of Springfield -- was not responsive but breathing. He was taken to RiverBend Hospital.
Investigators said the man was heading south on Franklin Boulevard while the delivery truck, driven by Kenneth Lowrie, 59, of Springfield, was headed north. Near East 19th Avenue, the truck made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist and they collided.
FedEx is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
