Firefighters rescue five cats from burning home in Eugene

Eugene Springfield Fire saved a family's five cats from a house fire early this morning.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Early this morning, Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a house fire on the 1800 block of Todd Street in Eugene.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire in the front of the home with the residents safely outside, but they were missing their five cats.

Search crews found the five cats alive in the house, one needing some help and crews administered oxygen to revive the cat. There were no injuries to the residents or firefighters.

Fire officials reported the house suffered moderate fire and extensive smoke damage. They are unsure of the cause of the fire at this time.
