EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a second alarm fire in a Commercial/Residential building in the 200 block of Wallis Street on Thursday afternoon.
The roof collapsed from the fire but everyone made it out ok. Firefighters were able to use chainsaws and hand tools to rescue the last remaining victim, a very large tortoise. The owner of the reptile told firefighters it was 150 years old.

The building housed commercial warehouse space as well as residential apartments.
