Firefighters stop Eugene brush fire

A home was threatened by the fire.

EUGENE, Ore. – A brush fire sparked up in Eugene Thursday morning.

Eugene-Springfield Fire said it was reported just after 10:30 a.m. Crews arriving to Bailey Hill Road in southwest Eugene found flames moving uphill toward a home. 

Bystanders were working to slow the fire with extinguishers and heavy equipment when firefighters got there.

By the time the fire was stopped, it had grown to one-tenth of an acre. The cause is under investigation.

Lane Fire Authority and the Oregon Department of Forestry assisted.
