EUGENE, Ore. – The first electric bus to join Lane Transit District’s fleet has arrived.
It’s the first of 11 new electric buses that were ordered in February, LTD officials said.

"We are excited to have the first new electric bus arrive from the factory," said Matt Imlach, LTD's Fleet Management Director. "For the next few months, we will thoroughly test the new electric bus in the shop and on the road before it's put into passenger service early next year."
The remaining ten buses are being built at New Flyer of America’s plant in Alabama and will arrive over the next few months, Imlach said. They are all 40-foot heavy-duty Xcelsior CHARGETM battery-electric transit buses.
LTD said the zero-emission buses will help the district meet its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the city and state’s climate action initiatives.
