Fisherman finds body in Willamette River in Albany

Capt. Brad Liles said the body was found near Monteith Riverpark on the south side of the river.

ALBANY, Ore. -- A fisherman found a body in the Willamette River in Albany on Wednesday.

Capt. Brad Liles said the body was found near Monteith Riverpark on the south side of the river.

Police said they received the call at about 12:50 p.m. The Albany Fire Department removed the body from the river.

Officials said they don’t know much at this time, but it looks like the body had been in the water for a while. The medical examiner will do an autopsy to determine cause of death.

Police are working to identify the body.
