EUGENE, Ore. – A former teacher at Spring Creek Elementary School in Eugene pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually abusing a teenage girl, U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams said.

William Hamann, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a child.

Court documents say Hamann paid a 15-year-old girl for oral sex and recorded her performing sex acts several times between 2018 and July 2019.

Detectives arrested Hamann on July 26, 2019, when he came to meet the girl a fourth time. Evidence was reportedly found on his phone and social media account.

A federal grand jury in Eugene returned a four-count indictment in August 2019 charging Hamann with sexual exploitation and trafficking a child, possession of child pornography and attempted sex trafficking of a child.

Hamann was also charged with multiple counts in Lane County Circuit Court, including sodomy and sex abuse.

He will be sentenced on March 1. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said it will recommend a 15-year prison sentence.

As part of the plea agreement, Hamann has agreed to pay restitution in full to his victim.

This case was investigated by the FBI and the Eugene Police Department.
