EUGENE, Ore. -- Matthew Hitson, a former Lane County deputy, was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail and five years of supervised probation for second-degree sexual abuse.

He was ordered to undergo an evaluation for sex offender treatment, and must register as a sex offender as required by Oregon law.

Hitson was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family.

He is eligible for alternative sentencing after serving 30 days in jail.

In June, a jury unanimously found Hitson guilty of second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sexual abuse following a trial in Lane County Circuit Court. The two counts were merged at sentencing, and he was sentenced Thursday on the charge of second-degree sexual abuse.

He will have a separate trial, which is scheduled to start Sept. 4, on six remaining charges involving two additional victims.
