ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg School Board approved an agreement with former superintendent Gerry Washburn Monday night.
Washburn will receive $150,000 after his firing. In exchange, Washburn cannot sue the district for any reason, including age discrimination.
Board Chairman Joseph Garcia said the money was equal to what Washburn would have been paid if he had stayed through June 2019 when his contract expired.
The board has not said why they placed Washburn on leave last month.
Last month the board tapped Human Resources Director Robert Freeman to be interim superintendent until a new person is hired to fill the position.
