ALBANY, Ore.--- The executive director of operations for the Greater Albany Public School District, Russell Buttram, announced on Facebook Sunday that he submitted his resignation earlier this week.
Buttram said he submitted the letter to interim Superintendent Rob Saxton last Wednesday. He said this decision was not an easy one but he felt he "could not support the actions of the new Board."
He writes in his letter to Saxton, "Bottom line, you deserve an Executive Director of Operations who trusts you, and ideally, this Board, and unfortunately, I do not."
Buttram said his resignation does not pertain to the Board's firing of Melissa Goff but rather the Board's process in selection of Saxton as the interim superintendent in which he calls a "tainted process."
Buttram also said he recommends to replace the board chair, Eric Aguinaga.
The letter said the resignation is effective September 22, 2021 but at Saxton's discretion, the date may be extended to September 24th, 2021 to provide turnover with the successor.
