EUGENE, Ore. -- Tickets for the June 29 Garth Brooks concert at Autzen Stadium go on sale Friday but some people have already paid in advance and officials are telling fans to watch out for scams.

Tickets for the concert will officially go on sale through Ticketmaster starting 10 a.m. on Friday. But some fans are using third-party sites like StubHub and others to pay for them in advance.

KEZI 9 News spoke to one man who used StubHub, an online marketplace where people can buy and sell tickets. He didn't want his name published because he got them as a gift and didn't want to run the surprise.

"It was pretty simple. Just go on the website, pick your seat and you check out," the man said.

Concert promoter Ben Farrell of Nashville-based Varnell Enterprises, Inc. said just like everyone else, third-party sellers will buy the tickets on Friday then sell them at a profit. He said the sellers estimate the number of tickets they can get their hands on, and Farrell said they have dealt with fake tickets being sold online.

"It happened the other night a few times in Florida," Farrell said. "It wasn't our responsibility of course to handle those kinds of things, but we certainly tried to accommodate them."

Dawn Johnson with the Better Business Bureau offered tips to make sure music lovers don't fall victim to ticket scams. She encouraged people to verify the seller is a member of the National Association of Ticket Brokers, which can be done here.

She also encouraged fans to use payment methods that offer protection and don't buy from scalpers on street corners, which she said are unlicensed, unregulated and some may be scammers selling fraudulent tickets.

StubHub says if any tickets sold on their website turn out to be fakes, they give customers refunds and in some cases get them real tickets.
