SALEM, Ore. -- Gov. Kate Brown has signed into law a bill to rein in skyrocketing drug prices.

House Bill 4005 requires drug companies to be more transparent by disclosing development costs for their most expensive products. It aims at providing consumers more information and requiring drug manufacturers to justify cost increases.

The measure requires drug companies to show the costs for developing, manufacturing, marketing, and distributing prescription drugs and previous-year revenues.

It applies only to drugs costing at least $100 for a month's supply and those that saw price increases of at least 10 percent in a year.
