SALEM, Ore. -- Oregon Governor Kate Brown says the fourth wave of coronavirus has reached Oregon.

Today the Oregon Health Authority reported more than 1,000 new cases, which could bring a new set of restrictions, including another lockdown in up to 12 counties.

Oregon has had the second fastest rise of cases in the country, which is overwhelming hospitals, according to Brown.

Brown added that because the hospitals are filling up, some counties could go into extreme risk as early as next Friday, April 30. She went on to say that if people continue to get vaccinated, the state could lift restrictions by summer.
