Governor Kate Brown vetoes "lane-splitting" bill

This bill would have allowed motorcyclists to drive between slowed or stopped traffic.

SALEM, Ore.--- Governor Kate Brown vetoed a measure this week that would have allowed motorcyclists to drIve between lanes on multilane highways, whenh traffic slowed to 10 miles per hour.

Brown cited public safety concerns as her reason for opposing the bill

Her decision came despite bipartisan approval and hundreds of letters of written testimony.

A legislative override of Brown's veto would require a two-thirds vote in each chamber.
