EUGENE, Ore. -- A grass fire near the University of Oregon came close to setting off a propane tank before crews got it under control Thursday afternoon.

The fire started behind the university’s power plant just before 2 p.m.

Firefighters said the wind-driven fire was moving fast and the flames were over 20 feet high.

More than 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, which grew to just over an acre before firefighters got it contained.

No buildings were burned, and no one was injured.

The cause is under investigation.
