HARRISBURG, Ore. --- The Harrisburg School Board decided to continue to follow the mask mandate with a vote of 3-2 Monday evening.

One of the opposed members, Lonnie Hutchens, delivered a statement about why he believes the mask mandates are an invasion of rights.

Other members expressed concerns about the negative impact not following the rules could have, such as teachers losing the licenses, or the financial loss the district would take.

According to Darcey Edwards, the principal of Harrisburg Elementary, the district has followed the COVID rules designated by the Oregon Health Authority.

With this vote, they'll continue to do so.
