LINN COUNTY, Ore. -- The Oregon Health Authority updated the recreational health advisory in place at Detroit Lake Friday.

The update lifts the advisory for all areas of Detroit Lake except for the area in and around the log boom and extends the advisory from the log boom through Big Cliff Lake.

Water monitoring has confirmed cyanotoxins are above recreational use advisory levels for human exposure in those areas.

The advisory for Detroit Lake was issued June 28. The two lakes are in both Linn and Marion counties.

Health officials advise visitors to be alert to signs of harmful algae blooms in all Oregon waters as blooms develop and disappear throughout the summer. Only a fraction of Oregon waterways are monitored.
