SALEM, Ore. -- The past weekend saw dangerously high temperatures, and now state officials say the heat wave likely claimed dozens of lives in Oregon.
Oregon State Police said on Wednesday that the State Medical Examiner’s Office received reports of 63 deaths that are believed to be associated with the heat wave.
The final number may change as the medical examiner receives more information about the deaths.
