REEDSPORT, Ore. – Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies are working to negotiate with a subject in Reedsport Tuesday night, and they are asking the public to avoid the area.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are in the area of Highway 101 and Winchester Avenue. Highway 101 has been closed between the Oregon 38 junction and Schofield Creek.

It started just before 5:45 p.m. when deputies stopped a vehicle and detained an individual and another person inside the vehicle became hostile, the sheriff’s office said. Negotiation attempts are underway.
