WALTON, Ore.-- The Oregon Department of Transportation has reopened Highway 126 after a landslide west of Walton closed it on Tuesday.
ODOT said all lanes are now open in both directions.
On Tuesday, drivers were being redirected to use Highway 36 to get from the coast to Eugene. The highway was closed from milepost 14 to milepost 40.
Earlier Tuesday, the highway was closed in Cushman after flooding forced traffic in both directions to come to a halt. The flood waters went down around 3 p.m. and the highway was reopened. Peter Murphy, ODOT public information officer, said crews are monitoring all highways in the state for any obstructions.
"We’re keeping a pretty good eye on what’s happening," Murphy said. "There’s a lot of water coming down and it can have an effect on the highways so what we’re trying to maintain is a presence."
The highway reopened late Wednesday morning.
