LEBANON, Ore. -- Smoke and flames took over a home in Lebanon Sunday afternoon along Santiam Highway.
When fire crews arrived, they noticed that the residents were not at home.
The 24 firefighters worked fast to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding homes and nearby fields.
The residents returned and told firefighters they had animals in the house.
Fire crews were able to retrieve two dogs and one cat. The animals were treated with oxygen until they appeared healthy.
Crews spent more than three hours on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
