Fire destroys house, kills 3 dogs in Dexter

Dexter Fire Chief Matt Peterson told KEZI 9 News that a fire completely destroyed a house on Saturday morning.

DEXTER, Ore. -- Dexter Fire Chief Matt Peterson told KEZI 9 News that a fire completely destroyed a house on Saturday morning. 

Peterson said the house on Lost Creek Road was fully engulfed in flames. He said three dogs died in the fire and one dog is still missing. 

Officials said the house is a total loss and the garage was salvaged. 

Peterson said the homeowner was barely able to get out of the house during the fire. We're told he had minor burns and smoke inhalation. 

The estimated cost of damage is $150,000. Peterson said he does not know the cause of the fire. However, he said it started in the living room area.
