No one injured in Springfield house fire

Neighbors reported seeing flames and smoke coming from the backside of the house from the second floor.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. --- A house caught on fire in Springfield Sunday night.

This happened on 305 36th Street around 7:30 p.m.

Eugene Springfield Fire got a call of a structure fire. Neighbors reported seeing flames and smoke coming from the backside of the house from the second floor. 

Battalion Chief Ben Meigs told KEZI 9 News that crews went inside and no one was inside. 

Meigs said the homeowner was not home but luckily relatives live close by and were able to help with securing the animals. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Fire Marshall is on scene assessing the damage. 

Meigs told KEZI 9 News there were no injuries from the fire.
