Housing for homeless families to open near fairgrounds

EUGENE, Ore. – A grand opening for a new housing project in Eugene is scheduled for Thursday.

Homes for Good, a public housing agency, is hosting a grand opening of The Keystone housing community at West 13th Avenue and Tyler Street near the fairgrounds. It started at 9:30 a.m.

The building includes 15 units with two and three-bedroom apartments, two ADA units, a community room, laundry room, computer access, playground and a services area for case management and peer support offices and meeting rooms. The housing is close to public transportation and offers off-street parking spaces. The overall estimated cost was $4 million.

Before construction of The Keystone, the property was an empty lot owned by the Lane County Fairgrounds.

The grand opening will include remarks from Homes for Good and several city and county leaders.
