LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- Every year, Lane Forest Products takes your old Christmas Trees and recycles them.

They also partner with other local organizations to give back to them, as well.

Starting the day after Christmas, places like Lane Forest Products encourage the public to come on out and recycle their trees.

They'll take your tree, grind it up, turn it into compost and use it later on in the summer for garden and barn yard compost that they sell.

They even take your flocked trees.

Since some flocking isn't bio-degradable, they'll grind it up and dispose of it properly.

Lane Forest Products works with groups to help them do fundraisers for their group or even field trips.

This year, they're working with:

• Buena Vista Spanish Emersion
McCornack Elementary for a trip to Washington D.C., you can also call 541-833-0180
• Thurston High School
• Yujin Gakuen Elementary
• Eugene Lightning Softball

If you decide to just drop off your tree at one of Lane Forest Products' locations, Tom Campbell said it's a pretty simple process.

"First off, it's very easy. Come on in, a couple bucks for each tree that you drop off," Campbell said. "Like I said, it's quick and easy and we'll get you in and out."

Those organizations will be doing tree pick-ups every weekend until the end of January.

To give you an idea on price, several groups are asking for a minimal donation of $10, but you can give extra.

If you're going to drop off at an LFP location, the price is $2 per tree, and you can drop them off any time for several months.
