The remains were found on Weyerhaeuser property by hikers in a densely forested area.

The sheriff’s office said Weyerhaeuser cleared an overgrown road so investigators could access the scene.

Investigators believe the remains are connected to a 2011 missing persons case.

The sheriff’s office is working with the State Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identify and cause of death.
