ROSEBURG, Ore. -- An iconic roseburg drive-in is still is closed after a car crashed into it about two months ago.
The owner of Pete's Drive-In, Darrell Orth, just opened a food truck in Roseburg to help keep the business going.
Much of the menu is the same, with the addition of some new barbecue items, but the location and the way you get this meal is different.
"It's a different animal," said Orth. "Because here we don't got to the patrons, the patrons have to come to the window."
The food truck opened last month. It's located in the food truck lot on the corner of SE Oak Ave. and SE Spruce St. The original location on W Harvard Ave. was forced to close in December, after a driver crashed his car into it.
"Pete's Drive-In was established here in 1965. This is the only time in it's entire history that it's been closed," said Orth.
Most of the kitchen was destroyed in the crash. Orth said it's taking some time to replace everything.
"A lot of the stuff we had, have been there since the 60's...so I'm looking for antiques, technically, to refurbish my drive-in with," said Orth. "It's been a long road."
He said the goal is to have it open by spring.
