SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- There is an increased police presence at Springfield High School Tuesday after reports of a possible threat.

Police told KEZI 9 News that a student reported being anxious about going to school after hearing about a possible threat. However, officials said there was no direct threat made to the school.

Two police cars patrolled school grounds while another was parked in front of the school.

Springfield police said there was no credible threat to the school.

"Right now, there is no threat," Lt. Scott McKee, PIO for Springfield Police, said. "We reacted to the information we had and obviously we want to air on the side of caution."

The school district sent out an email to parents Tuesday morning alerting them of the situation.
