ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are following up on the potential hate crime that was reported at Whistler's Bend park.
An African American Eugene man posted on social media Monday that he had found a noose next to his yurt over the weekend.
Officials said the investigation is still ongoing and has not been resolved. They said they are working to gather all relevant facts, conduct interviews and collect evidence before they close the case.
They are now in touch with the man who made the post on social media.
On Monday, they said they take reports of potential hate crimes seriously and will investigate “aggressively.”
