Ionescu wins Wade, Lieberman awards

Ionescu adds to her long list of accolades.

Tampa, FLA. -- Oregon women's basketball guard Sabrina Ionescu added to her illustrious career after winning both the Wade Trophy and Nancy Lieberman Award.

The Wade Trophy is given to the nation's most outstanding player while the Lieberman award recognizes the nation's top point guard.

It's Ionescu's second time earning the Lieberman honor.  

"I was not really expecting that to happen," Ionescu said.  "I was actually talking to Napheesa right next to me when they called my name so it really caught me by surprise but honored and humbled to receive the award amongst great candidates."

On top of being the NCAA leader in triple-doubles, Ionescu is avergaing 19.9 points to go along with 7.3 assists and 7.0 rebounds per game. 

She was also recgonized as a WBCA All-American. 

"Sabrina, obviously means everything to our program, there's no question, has awesome teammates and is always quick to give them credit," Oregon head coach Kelly Graves said. "That's who she is and why she's so great. I think what Sabrina's done is she's transcending our game. With this award I think she's elevated not only our program, but all of women's basketball."

Ionescu and the Ducks will take on No. 1 seed Baylor at 4 P.M. on Friday from Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL.
