Corvallis, Ore. -- Oregon State football continued their spring practices on Thursday. The running backs were on full display.
The running game will be key for a team that had only the No. 7-ranked rushing offense in the Pac-12 last year.
The Beavers return All-American Jermar Jefferson for his sophomore campaign. Jefferson led the team with 12 touchdowns and 115.0 rushing yards per game last season. Artavis Pierce also returns for his senior season.
"Me and AP got a good connection," Jefferson said. "We're always competing during practice or we're always competing of who does better. We're always focused on our task. He helps me, I help him sometimes."
Pierce scored four touchdowns in nine games in 2018. He is the most experienced tailback on the roster playing in 32 games averaging 5.1 yards per rush. Pierce is excited to see what he and Jefferson can do with another year under their belt.
"I feel like it's a good combination, a good one-two punch," Pierce said. "Also the other guys behind us. I just feel like he's a great guy, I'm a greay guy. We don't argue about reps or anything like that. We just feed off each other."
Oregon State will play their Spring Game on April 20th at Reser Stadium.
