EUGENE, Ore. -- The man accused of strangling a woman Tuesday night near East 18th Avenue and Potter Alley is a suspect in a fatal crash last October and has several open felony cases.
Jeremy Jay Davis, 43, was arrested Tuesday night after an hours-long standoff with SWAT.

Currently, Davis has three open felony cases going back to August. He’s charged with stealing a car, being a felon in possession of a gun and methamphetamine possession.
Last year, police said Davis was driving an SUV when he crashed into another vehicle on 5th Street and Hayden Bridge Way, killing James Chapman, 67.
Police said that drugs were found on the scene of the crash.
Officials said the case was sent to the Lane County District Attorney's Office. KEZI 9 News contacted the prosecutor in that case but hasn't heard back. As of Thursday afternoon, Davis has not been charged in that case.
Lane County Assistant District Attorney Steve Morgan told KEZI there are a lot of factors that decide how fast the case moves forward. Morgan said he believes Davis will stay in jail now that he's been charged with a person crime.
"If we have a guy that we know is dangerous in the community, we try to push the case forward as quickly as we can but that is dictated by what the defense attorneys argue they need to be ready and what the judge allows," Morgan said.
Davis is in the Lane County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault and strangulation.
