SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- A man charged with attempted murder after a Salem shooting that left two dead and another wounded is being held without bail.

Marion County Judge Daniel Wren said Thursday he saw evidence the public would be at risk if Elijah Watterson was released.

The Statesman Journal reports friends and family of the 21-year-old man filled the courtroom, and tensions briefly flared. After two men were asked to leave, one of them shouted, "Love you, Elijah."

Watterson, who has a prior felony, was arrested in Los Angeles County after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Oregon. As of Thursday, he did not have legal representation.

The shooting happened outside a bar April 14. Nobody has been charged with murder, and police have declined comment on the ongoing investigation.
