EUGENE, Ore. -- It’s Fourth of July weekend, which means most people will be traveling.
According to a report from the American Automobile Association, this July is projected to see a record-breaking travel weekend, with around 49 million people in the United States on the move.
In the Pacific region alone -- which includes Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska -- there will be over six million people traveling.
According to estimates, 555,000 of them are Oregonians.

If you’re traveling north toward Portland and Seattle, be prepared to sit in some traffic. AAA says most roads will be congested.
Sherrell McCarthy, who will be traveling from Eugene to Sunset Bay this weekend, says it’s important to make sure everyone is on the same page if traveling in a group.
"We’re making sure everyone has the directions to where we're going and they know exactly where to be,” says McCarthy. “We have multiple stops along that way, so that if we do get separated, just head to that next stop and that's where we'll meet."
AAA says between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. were to be the busiest times to travel on Wednesday, July 3. They also say mid-morning on Sunday, July 7, will be busy too as people return home.
