ROSEBURG, Ore. – A man was arrested Monday after police say he ran from them and was bitten by a police dog.

Police said they were trying to find Robert Mauer, 40, for an active parole warrant for drugs and they found him near Elmer's.

When police tried to contact him, he reportedly ran away and hid in some old furniture.

Officers brought in police dog Axel to find him but police said he still would not come out.

Axel bit Mauer and dragged him out into the open where he was arrested, police said.
