LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency has issued air quality advisories and smoke bans in Lane County.

The advisories are due to recent stagnant air conditions throughout parts of Oregon.

A “RED” home wood heating advisory is in place for Eugene/Springfield and Oakridge starting at 4 p.m. on Monday. The advisory will be in place for 24 hours and may be extended. Oakridge was also under a RED advisory last week.

STORMTRACKER 9 FORECAST: MORNING FOG TO GIVE WAY TO AFTERNOON SUN

No visible smoke is allowed from a chimney at a residential home during the RED advisory.

Some residents can obtain an economic exemption, which are available online or at Oakridge City Hall and LRAPA’s Springfield office.

Outdoor burning is not allowed in Lane County except for in coastal areas.

The poor air quality is expected to continue for several days. Air pollution can create health hazards for residents, LRAPA said.
