EUGENE, Ore. -- Staff with the Lane Transit District are reminding people of their RideSource programs, which help accommodate people with disabilities.

LTD staff said their RideSource programs offer people with disabilities who are unable to use the bus due to a disability a ride to and from their home and to their destination.

Staff said RideSource has been around since 1990, and there are a variety of programs within RideSource. There are two main programs their clients use.

One program is their ADA Service, which costs $3.50.

Their other popular program is non-emergency transportation, which is free for people under the Oregon Health Plan and takes people to their medical appointments.

For both programs, all people have to do is call the RideSource office at 541-682-5566  24 hours in advance to schedule a ride.

Anita Huffman whose been using RideSource for six years said it's played a vital role in her life.

"I work and also go to dialysis, and with the scheduling, and I need assistance getting on the bus and getting off the bus and strapping myself in,” Huffman said. “So, this really is a blessing."

LTD staff said before people can be approved to use their services, staff from a partner agency will come to the applicant's home to evaluate their transportation needs.
