Lane County Commissioners vote on AFSCME contract

The Lane County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted in favor of approving the AFSCME contract on October 31, 2017.

LANE COUNTY, ORE. -- The Lane County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted in favor of approving the AFSCME contract on October 31, 2017.

AFSCME ratified the agreement on October 27, 2017. Workers started the strike on October 18, 2017 until the tentative agreement was reached.

The contract includes a 2% cost of living adjustment for union members and requires them to pay up to $50 a month for health insurance.

The three-year deal also includes:
A one-time payment of $100,000 to be distributed by AFSCME to help "defray employee costs"
"Market adjustments" for 63 percent of AFSCME members
Dental hygienists who are now in temporary positions will move to part-time status
