EUGENE, Ore.-- Lane County Public Health announced how many doses of the COVID-19 vaccine the county's school districts will be getting this week.

Here is a breakdown of the districts:

Bethel: 330
Creswell: 40
Eugene 4J: 780
Siuslaw: 40
South Lane: 100
Springfield: 410

When it comes to the 4J School District, they're helping administer vaccines to smaller school districts like Crow, Applegate, and Lane County Education Service District. Out of the 780 doses, 650 are going to 4J staff, and the rest are going to smaller districts.

Kerry Delf, Chief of Staff for the district, said teachers, specialists, and other staff who work closely with students will get the vaccine first. In this first round of vaccines, the district will be looking at that category of staff who work directly with younger students. This will allow for the ability for younger grades to transition to hybrid learning. She said the district is still working on plans to get students into hybrid learning.

Delf said although this first round only covers about a fifth of 4J staff, eventually everyone will be vaccinated.

"This has been a year, like no year we've seen before. Were at a point where we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and seeing vaccines being distributed and being able to get that to our staff," Delf said. "Not all right now, but all overtime starting with our staff who work closely with students, that's incredibly heartening."

Delf said the district will start vaccinating staff this Friday.
