LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- If you enjoy the outdoors and helping out your community, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office is recruiting new volunteers for their Search and Rescue (SAR) team.

Volunteers must be ready and prepared to be called out at all times of the day or night, which could mean in extreme conditions.

There are three informational meetings in October at the Lane County Public Service Building's Harris Hall. Attendance at one of the below dates is mandatory to become a SAR volunteer. No registration is needed, and face coverings are required.

  • Monday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
