LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- Organizers with Lane County Stand Down are getting a jumpstart on their fundraising for their big event in October.
At last year’s event, hundreds of veterans in need received clothes, toiletries, haircuts, medical care and more. General Chairman Floyd Bard said they want to expand the event to include veterans and their families.
“We started two months ago and we go for grants. We try to get as many grants as possible. It probably cost us in excess of 40 to 50 thousand dollars to put on this event,” Bard said.
The annual Stand Down fundraiser reaches out to local veterans and provides exhibits and programs which veterans may be unaware of, the organization’s website says.
