EUGENE, Ore. -- The Lane County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to approve an emergency declaration over COVID-19, authorizing the spending of up to $750,000 on the response to the outbreak.

During Tuesday's meeting, staff said the money will come from various sources within the county budget. It will be allocated to different areas, including paying staff for overtime related to COVID-19, granting contracts and even personal protective equipment for county employees.

The emergency declaration comes one day after the City of Springfield voted to approve a similar measure.
