Lane County commissioners pass fireworks ban

The new rule only applies when the Oregon Department of Forestry declares a fire season.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Fireworks in Lane County are officially banned during active wildfire seasons.

On Tuesday, the Lane County Board of Commissioners banned all fireworks in unincorporated parts of the county.

This new rule only applies when the Oregon Department of Forestry declares a fire season.

The board voted 4-0 in favor of the ban. Lane County Commissioner Jay Bozievich was not present.
