Lane County man dies in prison

EUGENE, Ore. – A Lane County man serving time at Snake River Correctional Institution died Tuesday, the Oregon Department of Corrections said.

Joseph Flower, 69, was in the infirmary in hospice.

He entered custody on June 16, 1992, and his earliest release date would have been Aug. 28, 2027.

Flower was convicted of multiple counts relating to sexual abuse and rape as well as kidnapping, burglary and robbery.

The Snake River facility in Ontario houses about 3,000 inmates.
