EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County will be expanding the groups eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, Lane County Public Health has confirmed.

This comes after an announcement from Gov. Kate Brown of a new, accelerated vaccination timeline in keeping with President Joe Biden’s pledge that all Americans 16 and older will be eligible by May 1.

Under the new plan, counties that have largely finished vaccinating residents 65 and older can turn their eye to starting vaccinations on the next eligible groups on March 22.

Douglas County will also be moving to vaccinate additional groups soon, but Linn County says they will not be moving up their timeline because they are only a little over halfway through vaccinating seniors. KEZI 9 News is reaching out to other counties in our area to see what their plans are.
