FLORENCE, Ore. -- You can get rid of hazardous waste from around your house next weekend -- from paint to garden chemicals.

Lane County is holding a free hazardous waste roundup next Friday and Saturday.

You can drop off up to 35 gallons of things like paint, household cleaners, car care products and arts and crafts products.

Residents should check labels for words like flammable, corrosive, poison, caution and danger.

They won’t accept empty containers, drums, radioactive waste, asbestos, electronics or explosives.

The even is happening at the Florence Transfer Station from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
