CANYONVILLE, Ore. -- Drivers on Interstate 5 should expect delays in the Canyonville area on Tuesday due to the Milepost 97 Fire, Oregon Department of Transportation Officials said.
Between 7 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, ODOT will administer a rolling slowdown in both directions between mileposts 88 and 101, allowing crews to remove hazards like trees south of Canyonville.
Flaggers will hold drivers entering I-5 southbound for up to 20 minutes at on-ramps at Exit 101 (Riddle Road), Exit 99 (North Canyonville) and Exit 98 (North Canyonville). Northbound drivers will be delayed at Exit 88 (Azalea).
Meanwhile, I-5 southbound is still limited to one lane between mileposts 97 and 93 about two miles south of Canyonville.
They said northbound and southbound off-ramps at Exit 95 (Canyon Creek) remain closed.
ODOT officials said to watch out for possible congestion and delays. They also said to be cautious of low visibility from smoke.
The fire is currently burning more than 11,000 acres and threatening more than 500 buildings.
