LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- With Eugene School District 4J's announcement that mask mandates will remain in place until the end of the school year, other districts are now weighing their options.

Creswell School District Superintendent Mike Johnson said the decision will be a collaborative effort for all of the districts in the county.

"Having the opportunity to discuss these changes and directives as they come out as a team -- as a county-wide team of superintendents -- really gives us an opportunity to be consistent," Johnson said.

According to Johnson, a decision will likely be announced by the end of the week.

"We want to do what's in the best interests of kids," Johnson said.

He mentioned that the only reason they haven't been able to come to a conclusion yet is because they did not begin their decision-making process until the Oregon Department of Education guidelines were official.
