SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Springfield police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a lengthy standoff in Thurston.
Randy Corbett, 32, was booked into the Lane County Jail on a contempt of court charge. Police say he was ordered to avoid the address on S. 58th Street.
Sgt. George Crolly of Springfield police, said a woman called 911 at about 7 a.m., reporting an assault. Police responded, but Corbett would not leave the house.
"We had negative contact for quite a while until we had contact with the male inside the house. so we brought in negotiations team and the SWAT," he said.
Police eventually brought Corbett out around 1 p.m.
"The residents of the neighborhood were not ever at risk of injury or in danger at any time," said Crolly. "Almost right off the bat we had the residence surrounded so if anything happened we were able to contain the situation to just that house."
